Former Nigerian sports minister Bolaji Abdullahi defects from PDP

Abdullahi revealed that he is still undecided on his next political move, stating that the decision will be taken in the future and left to God.

Bolaji Abdullahi, a former minister of sports and youth development, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Abdullahi revealed that he is still undecided on his next political move, stating that the decision will be taken in the future and left to God.

In his resignation letter, Abdullahi said he reached the “difficult” decision after days of reflection and introspection.

“I write to formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the letter reads.

Abdullahi was the PDP candidate for the Kwara central senatorial district election in 2023. He lost the race to Salihu Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Interestingly, this isn’t Abdullahi’s first resignation from a major political party. In 2018, he resigned as the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defected to the PDP.

At the time, he cited disagreements with the party’s leadership and a desire to align with his political mentor, Bukola Saraki. Now, Abdullahi seems to be at a crossroads, weighing his options for the future…
