Former Kano State governor has addressed rumours making the rounds that he has reached an agreement with presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, on a merger ahead of the 2027 elections.
The NNPP leader bared his mind in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday,
Kwankwaso insisted that he was not aware of such arrangements if there were any, stressing that he only learnt that the Atiku group was holding meetings ahead of 2027.
“This issue really hurts me. It is said that the elders are lying; they are saying things that have not been done. I was told that about forty-five Mallams were gathered, and they are telling the people. But there is no such thing. I am not at all happy about this thing’,” he said.

The former governor also accused those he described as northern leaders who interfere in the selection of political candidates by showing favouritism especially in the presidential election.
