Wike praises Ijaw people, vows to uphold constitutional duties

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, commended the Ijaw nation, describing them as “good people” who should not be associated with negativity.

Wike said this in his address during a Thanksgiving Service held in Abalama town, Asari-Toru Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State on Saturday.

The immediate past governor of Rivers State also used the occasion to address pressing political issues while reaffirming his commitment to upholding constitutional processes.

Wike emphasized that he would not interfere with the Rivers State House of Assembly as they carry out their constitutional duties.

“I won’t stop the Assembly from carrying out their constitutional duties,” he stated firmly, underscoring his respect for democratic institutions.

The minister also took the opportunity to criticize the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, and other politicians, accusing them of misleading the state governor for their selfish interests.

He alleged that the SSG and his elder brother, a judge, – Justice Danagogo – conspired to obtain an ex parte order, which the governor reportedly used to present the budget to only four people.

“They will lead you to hellfire,” Wike warned, expressing his frustration with what he described as unethical political maneuvers…
