Tariffs on China, full sanctions on Russia: Trump’s plan to end Ukraine war

President Donald Trump, in a statement, outlined a strategy to end the Russia-Ukraine war by proposing that NATO nations impose major sanctions on Russia and place 50-100% tariffs on China, arguing that this would leverage China’s influence to pressure Russia.

President Donald Trump has outlined a dramatic proposal to bring a swift end to the conflict in Ukraine, stating that he is ready to implement “major Sanctions on Russia” but only when all NATO nations agree to do the same and “STOP BUYING OIL FROM RUSSIA.”

In a statement released Wednesday, Trump criticized the current approach of the alliance, claiming that “NATO’S commitment to WIN has been far less than 100%, and the purchase of Russian Oil, by some, has been shocking!” He argued that this practice “greatly weakens your negotiating position, and bargaining power, over Russia.”

Trump’s plan extends beyond Russia, also targeting China. He proposed that NATO, as a collective body, should place “50% to 100% TARIFFS ON CHINA” that would be fully withdrawn only after the war has ended. Trump believes that China’s “strong control, and even grip, over Russia” could be broken by these powerful tariffs, which would “be of great help in ENDING this deadly, but RIDICULOUS, WAR.”

The former president, who has consistently stated that the war would “never have started if I was President,” distanced himself from the ongoing conflict, labeling it “Biden’s and Zelenskyy’s WAR.” He positioned himself as an intermediary, stating, “I am only here to help stop it, and save thousands of Russian and Ukrainian lives.”

Trump concluded his statement with a challenge to the alliance, asserting that if NATO follows his advice, “the WAR will end quickly, and all of those lives will be saved!” He warned that if they do not, they are “just wasting my time, and the time, energy, and money of the United States.”
