Doctors believed Lina Medina was suffering from a large tumour when her stomach began to grow at five years old.
They were shocked to discover that the Peruvian girl was seven months pregnant — and just weeks later they delivered her perfectly healthy baby son.
It has been 80 years since that shocking day, and Lina is still the youngest person to have ever given birth.
The healthy 6lb baby was born via caesarean as the girl’s young pelvis was deemed too small for a natural labour.
The infant was named Gerado, named after the doctor who delivered him.
Dr Gerado discovered during the birth that Lina had fully developed adult sexual organs, despite only being five years old.
The young girl suffered from an extremely rare condition named precocious puberty.
After the birth, Lina’s father Tilburelo was arrested on suspicion of incest. However he was later released as a lack of evidence could not link him to such crimes.
