Bride-to-be dies in house fire on her wedding day

DAILY MAIL

A Wisconsin bride-to-be has died after becoming trapped in a house fire on her wedding day just hours before she was due to tie the knot.

Paige Ruddy, 19, was asleep on the second story of a Reedsburg home located at the 200 block of W. 2nd Street when it became engulfed in flames on Tuesday around 4am.

The home didn’t have smoke alarms to warn of the blaze, giving Ruddy no warning or time to escape. She lived in the home with her fiancĂ© and his grandparents, but it’s unclear if they were the three others inside the home who escaped unharmed.

When firefighters arrived, they broke a window on the second floor to get to Ruddy, who would die in the hospital a day later from a brain hemorrhage caused by smoke inhalation.

Heartbroken family members remembered the teenager as a ‘presence you couldn’t explain that you always needed in your life.’

‘She was just a precious human,’ her aunt Holly said, according to 13 News. ‘There was nothing about her that you couldn’t like.’

The cause of the fire is under investigation but police suspect no foul play was involved.

The bride-to-be was hours away from marrying the love of her life Logan Mitchell-Carter before the tragic incident.

According to Holly, the love birds privately exchanged their vows on Monday hours before the fire.

They were set to tie the knot on Tuesday surrounded by close family at the Sauk County Courthouse.
