Human rights advocate, Omoyele Sowore, has described the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike as crooked a son and father who have depleted the state’s treasury.

Wike is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Sowore who made this known on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday stated that Governor Fubara assisted Wike in looting Rivers’ treasury.

Regarding the recent crisis in the state that has pitched the governor against his predecessor and political godfather, Sowore said the “crooks” are fighting over the rest of the loot!

Sowore wrote, “Father and Son crooks have finished Rivers state treasury, @SimFubaraKSC assisted @GovWike to loot Rivers treasury, the crooks are fighting over the rest of the loot!”

SaharaReporters reported on Monday that there was a crisis in the Rivers Assembly amidst plans to impeach Fubara.

It also reported that the House on Monday removed its Majority Leader, Edison Ehie from his position.

The House members led by their Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, served an impeachment notice on Fubara before they fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex.

However, a faction of the state lawmakers loyal to Fubara later removed Amaewhule as the Speaker and replaced him with Ehie.

Addressing the issue on Wednesday, Fubara said, “There is nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem if there is any problem. But I don’t think there is anything; whatever it is, we will definitely resolve the issue.”

Addressing his supporters outside the Assembly Complex on Monday, the governor said he had not done anything to warrant the moves being made by some members of the House of Assembly to impeach him.

The development occurred hours after a fire broke out at the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.

He said, “We wake up this morning with a very troubling news. We have gone to the assembly to see for ourselves what has happened. On my way there I was shot directly by the OC Operation but it didn’t matter, somebody would die one way or the other.

“Either you die inside your house or you die on the road by something. But my journey today is whatever it is that want to happen, let it happen.

“If Siminalayi Fubara is impeached, I am not the first neither will I be the last. I am saying if it happens but what is important is any attempt that is not justified will be resisted. Let them come out and tell Rivers people that offence that I have committed.

“That is what I want, to come out and tell the people of Rivers state that the offence that Fubara committed that is warranting impeachment. But my happiness this morning is you the people of Rivers State represented by everyone you here are with us. I can go home and sleep.

“Let me assure you people that we will continue to defend you people. We will protect you people and you will enjoy the dividend of democracy. Let me thank you once again, at the appropriate time I will address the press.”
