How gunmen kidnapped multiple CUSTECH students

Students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, were preparing for their first semester examinations when armed kidnappers struck on Thursday night.

FIJ gathered that some of the students who were on campus to either read or join tutorials ahead of the exams previously set for Monday, May 13, were kidnapped between 7 pm and 10 pm.

Now, the school is empty, exams are postponed and the kidnapped students’ whereabouts are unknown.

“The school is empty because nearly all the students have run home or somewhere else for safety,” a CUSTECH student told FIJ.

The student, whose name is withheld for security reasons, told FIJ that he learned that two natives of Osara were also kidnapped on their farms.

“But I didn’t wait to confirm who was kidnapped before I ran,” he said.

‘I BELIEVE THEY HAD SPIES AROUND’

Because of the seemingly organised manner in which the attack happened, this student believes that the kidnappers had spies on campus.

“The unknown gunmen who turned out to be kidnappers came in a good number. I believe they had spies around in disguise because their attack was in a perfect moment for them,” he said.
