Nigerians abroad on TETFund scholarship in distress as Tinubu government omits them in N3.8billion disbursements 

A large number of Nigerian scholars funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) abroad have been excluded from recent fund disbursements, some affected students revealed to SaharaReporters.

Many were also reportedly shortchanged. TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, had announced a N3.8 billion bailout for 1,500 scholars abroad since 2017. However, scholars’ chairman Kamal A. Odunjo-Saka stated that this omission has left them in harsh conditions.

He noted inconsistencies in fund allocation and urged President Tinubu to intervene. The scholars emphasized the bailout’s importance to mitigate COVID-19 impacts, inflation, and the Naira devaluation.
