Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, on Friday called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Director General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi, to clarify the whereabouts of the Nigerian whistleblower, PIDOMNIGERIA.
Ezekwesili stated that either the IGP or the DSS DG should inform Nigerians about the reasons behind the arrest of the undercover journalist, emphasizing that both agencies have a responsibility to uphold transparency and accountability.
The disappearance of PIDOMNIGERIA was first reported by fellow investigative journalist David Hundeyin. In a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Ezekwesili wrote: “The IG of @PoliceNG and the DG of @OfficialDSSNG are obligated to ensure transparency and public accountability and must act accordingly.
“Public accountability requires that Nigerians are properly informed about the whereabouts of Citizen-@PIDOMNIGERIA, whose disappearance is causing serious concern, with suspicions directed at your agencies.
“By now, you should have learned to avoid unconstitutional actions against citizens that can lead to unrest.”
