A bizarre growth that resembles a horn has “grown” out of 107-year-old woman’s forehead in China and locals reckon it is the secret to her long life.
The centenarian, who has only been named as Chen, has become a local celebrity in Guangdong where she lives, since the 10cm growth apparently first sprouted a few years ago.
Doctors say the growth is a cutaneous horn, a form of swelling associated with prolonged sun exposure.
Despite her advancing years and condition, Chen remains in good health, has a big appetite and a positive outlook to life.
People who live in the area have branded the growth as Chen’s “longevity horn,” and believe it is the reason for her good health.
The growths are generally benign and experts advise monitoring them as there is small risk they could become cancerous.
Social media users were recently left stunned after a video of Chen was shared online on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
Chen isn’t the only senior citizen to have a horn-like growth blossoming out of her head.
In 2019, Shyam Lal Yadav, who lives in India , had a four-inch “devil horn” removed from his head.
