The National Administration of Aeronautics and Space (NASA) failed to prevent a collision of an asteroid with the Earth in a simulation preparation for a possible such crash, BulgarianMilitary.com has learned, citing several media, including Business Insider.
The simulation was performed last weekend. The US agency says that currently, there is no existing technology on Earth to protect the Earth and its inhabitants.
The participants in the experiment used nuclear weapons to reduce the risk of such a collision. Still, the simulation showed the opposite of the expected – the low efficiency of the nuclear missile against a flying body flying 35 million km from Earth.
Space experts say that in this case, humanity cannot protect itself, even if it finds out about such a collision six months before it happens. If such a development reaches us, we do not have the technological time to prepare and launch a rocket to protect us from a potential collision, say the participants in the NASA experiment.
At this stage, according to experts, if we know the exact place where such an asteroid would fall to Earth, politicians, the military, and society, the only kitten can do evacuate the population from this area.
Too late, we see asteroids flying towards us
Contrary to expectations and thinking that we have better and better technologies, scientists worldwide spotted most asteroids flying towards Earth too late. The illusion is that a relatively giant asteroid would have been spotted by us earlier than six months before a possible collision.
Lindley Johnson, NASA’s planetary defense officer, says that scientists on Earth have found only a third of the population of asteroids, which for one reason or another, pose some, even minimal, a threat to Earth.
These failed tests, as well as similar opinions from experts, make us think seriously about dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Although we have modern technology, we are ignorant of space technology and any progress.
The most significant proof of this is Comet Neoways, which we learned about last July. This comet is nearly 5 km wide. And a previous year passed 102 million km from Earth, and four months earlier, NASA’s telescopes had not yet discovered it at all.
Do you remember 2013? A meteor with a diameter of 65 feet (nearly 2,000 cm – ed.) entered the Earth’s atmosphere at a speed of 64,000 km / h and exploded over Chelyabinsk, Russia. One thousand four hundred people were injured, windows tens of kilometers were broken, and dozens of buildings were damaged. And the meteor did not even meet the Earth but crashed into the air. The shock wave caused this damage.
