DAILY STAR

Boffins plan to build a 200,000-mile stairway to heaven so robots can ferry goods to the Moon.

They hope to drop a line from the lunar surface into Earth’s orbit which will be held taught by gravity.

Space shuttles will then fly goods to the Earth end which will then be hauled to the Moon by robots.

Experts think the plan could lead to a “Fed-Ex'” style operation which would slash the cost of sending shipments to space.

According to tech news website Freethink the move would make space more accessible to “scientists, start-ups and tourists who never could have afforded it previously”.
