Chelsea to parade Champions League trophy ahead of clash with fierce rivals Tottenham

Thomas Tuchel’s side lifted club football’s most coveted trophy at the end of last season, beating fellow Premier League side Manchester City 1-0 in the final.

The game against Spurs provides the Blues with their first chance to show-off the trophy, which they have now won twice in the club’s history, in front of their fans.

London’s biggest trio of clubs have agreed to take part in a triangular pre-season tournament, with Arsenal the other outfit competing.

Tuchel’s men will actually face Arsenal first at the Emirates on August 1, before welcoming Tottenham just three days later.

A statement on the Chelsea website read: “At the match at Stamford Bridge, the Champions League trophy will be paraded for the first time since the glorious night in Porto back in May.”

Before the tournament begins, Chelsea will up their pre-season efforts with a training camp in County Kildare after flying to Ireland on Tuesday afternoon.

A solitary Kai Havertz goal was enough to secure Chelsea the victory at the Estadio Dragao, against a Man City side that were participating in their first ever Champions League final.

Chelsea, in stark contrast, have reached three in the last 13 years alone, winning two, after a Didier Drogba-inspired victory over Bayern Munich at the Allianz ensured the Blues became the first London-based side to win the Champions League.

Their win in late May now means they have two before the likes of Arsenal or Spurs even have one, making the upcoming parade of the trophy all the more annoying for the Tottenham faithful.
