Chelsea have told Trevoh Chalobah that he can leave Stamford Bridge on loan, amid interest from Crystal Palace, according to Football.London.
Football.London are reporting that Chelsea have decided that they will send Chalobah out on loan for this season.
The 22-year-old defender has impressed Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in pre-season.
Palace have been linked with Chalobah.
L’Equipe reported last month that Palace manager and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira wants to sign the 22-year-old, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder.
Watford, West Bromwich Albion and Montpellier are also claimed to be interested in the youngster.
COULD A TRANSFER HAPPEN NOW?
The problem that Palace face is that Chelsea want to send Chalobah out on loan.
Now, the Eagles have already signed Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea.
So, for Chalobah to move to Palace, it has to be a permanent deal.
If Palace are keen on the 22-year-old, then perhaps they should try to strike a permanent deal.
If Chalobah cannot get into the Chelsea team now, then it is unlikely that he will manage to do so in a year’s time after coming back from loan.
Perhaps Chelsea and the youngster could be persuaded to a permanent deal now.
You could argue that since Palace have already signed defenders Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi, they do need to sign another player for that position.
However, there is alway room for more good players in any squad, and Chalobah is one for the future.
Moreover, Chalobah can also play as a number 6, which would be useful for Palace.
