Frenkie de Jong future becomes clear with Barcelona keen to 'speed up' exits for quartet

After months of talks with Manchester United, it has been reported that Frenkie de Jong will now only leave Barcelona if he is replaced by Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese playmaker has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou this summer, though an offer is yet to arrive for the midfielder.

It is no secret that Barcelona are not in a financial position to submit significant bids for players, especially after their minor spending spree already this summer. However, they are hoping to continue their transfer business, but only after selling some of their fringe players that are now deemed surplus to requirements.

Currently, Barca are waiting to register Jules Kounde and announce the signing of Marcos Alonso from Chelsea, but they need to offload some players first. According to Sport, the Catalan giants are hoping to offload Martin Braithwaite, Sergino Dest, Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

De Jong is also free to leave the club, but reportedly his move away relies on an agreement being reached for Silva to join the club. It is felt that the arrival of the former Monaco star would be the ‘icing on the cake’, in what has been a rollercoaster of a transfer window for manager Xavi.
