The Champions League draw is scheduled to be held on Thursday evening in Istanbul, the city where the Champions League final will be held in June.
The teams are allocated into four pots. Pot 1 will consist of the Champions League winners, the Europa League winners and the champions of the next six highest-ranked countries in the UEFA coefficients. Meanwhile, the rest of the pots will be determined by the club coefficient ranking.
The reason why Eintracht Frankfurt are in Pot 1
According to these criteria, Pot 1 will include Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt, but not Barcelona or Atletico Madrid, who will be placed in Pot 2 since they didn’t win either European competition last year, nor did they top the LaLiga Santander table.
