Martin Braithwaite has endured a rather tedious couple of months at Barcelona this summer, with the forward becoming a subject of intense animosity from his own supporters.
He has seen his status in the first team dwindled by the arrival of players such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski, and despite having a contract until 2024, he has been asked to depart Camp Nou.
However, furious by the club’s treatment, Braithwaite himself had not entertained the prospect of leaving Camp Nou, knowing it will help Barça not only reduce the cost of the workforce but also generate a meagre transfer fee.
The Danish international has been courted by a number of clubs across Europe throughout the summer. Spanish clubs, in particular, have strongly considered the possibility of snapping him up in the summer, especially in light of his relatively strong record in La Liga.
Buoyed by the pressure, Barcelona have finally set to reach an agreement with Braithwaite over the termination of his contract. The official announcement was relayed by the club on the social media channels.
