New signing Alexander Isak has been handed his home debut ahead of Newcastle United’s Premier League visit of Crystal Palace this afternoon (kick-off 3pm BST).
Isak, who scored on his Magpies debut against Liverpool on Wednesday night, will make his St. James’ Park bow against Patrick Vieira’s side, with Eddie Howe making two changes from their midweek defeat against Jürgen Klopp’s Reds.
Fabian Schär and Sven Botman both return to the starting line-up in place of Jamaal Lascelles and Dan Burn, who revert to the bench, while Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett continue to occupy their respective flanks. Nick Pope continues in-between the sticks.
Sean Longstaff, Joelinton and Joe Willock are situated in the middle of the park, while Miguel Almirón – who scored the winner in their recent encounter with the Eagles in April – and Ryan Fraser, will aim to provide attacking support for Isak.
Elliot Anderson, targeting a competitive home debut with his boyhood club, is available to deploy from the bench along with Chris Wood and Jacob Murphy.
Karl Darlow, Javier Manquillo, Matt Ritchie and Jamal Lewis make up the remainder of the substitutes’ bench.
