Thibaut Courtois has admitted he was frustrated by Real Madrid’s missed chances against Cadiz but he is hopeful that will rectified against Chelsea in the Champions League.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side went 10 points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona with a 2-0 win over the 15th-placed strugglers thanks to goals by Nacho and Marco Asensio.
However, Real will feel they should have scored more goals having registered 35 shots, with big chances squandered by the likes of Rodrygo, Karim Benzema and Federico Valverde.
Courtois is hopeful his team-mates will be a lot more clinical against his former side Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
‘We played a good game. Until the first goal we made many chances, but David Gil played a good game,’ the Belgian said.
‘They had the chance to hold out for a draw, but we controlled the game. We were able to score more goals, but I hope we saved them for Tuesday.
‘We lacked a bit of concentration or desire to score the goal, but it is also the merit of their goalkeeper.’
Courtois also took a jibe at Barcelona but he admitted it will be difficult to catch them at the top of the table.
He said: ‘There is a long distance in points with Barcelona, but we still have the Copa del Rey final and we play during the week. Others only play from Saturday to Saturday.’
Real Madrid will go into the Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie against Frank Lampard’s side with a 2-0 lead thanks to Karim Benzema and Asensio’s goals in the first-leg.
