Ten Hag insists Marcus Rashford apologized for partying after defeat

NAIJA NEWS

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has stressed that Marcus Rashford has apologized for partying after the club suffered a 3-0 Manchester derby defeat to Manchester City on October 29.

Marcus Rashford who turned 26-year-old on October 31, went on to celebrate the birthday at a luxurious club house after City defeated his team at Old Trafford.

Since the news broke that Rashford didn’t sacrifice his birthday bash on the altar of failing to help struggling Manchester United beat City, there have been a backlash against the England international.

Ahead of the Premier League game between Manchester United and Fulham which will kick off at 1:30 p.m. later today, November 4, coach Erik ten Hag told the press that it was “unacceptable” that Rashford had to throw a birthday party after such a defeat.

The birthday bash which took place on Sunday night, hours after the defeat in the Manchester derby was reportedly planned in advance and couldn’t be canceled despite the defeat.

Even though he partied all night, the England international reportedly showed up to training on Monday, October 30, without any issues.

Despite that, Ten Hag was not pleased that Marcus Rashford had to go partying when he performed below expectations in the Manchester Derby.

While claiming that Marcus Rashford’s decision to party is unacceptable, Ten Hag refused to disclose whether the 26-year-old forward would be punished as he insisted that it was an internal affair.

“I am aware of it and I spoke with him about it,” said Ten Hag.

“It is unacceptable. I told him. He apologized and that is it.”

Note that despite the “unacceptable” act, Marcus Rashford played in Manchester United’s defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup round…
