Why Euro 2024 top goal scorer award is shared among six players

Spain midfielder Dani Olmo and five other players have won the top goal scorer award at the Euro 2024 after finishing the tournament with three goals.

England’s Harry Kane, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze, the Netherlands’ Cody Gakpo, Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz and Germany’s Jamal Musiala also won a share of the Golden Boots award.

Why is the EURO 2024 top scorer award shared?

Unlike previous Euros where assists was used as a tie-break, and which would have given Leipzig midfielder Olmo the award on his own, Uefa announced this year’s award would just be decided on goals.

Heading into the final in Berlin, England’s Harry Kane and Spain’s Dani Olmo were tied as the top scorers with three goals but none of the duo could increase their tally.
