The French giants wish to bring the Nigerian sensation back to Ligue 1 but have been forced to cool interest in the Serie A star.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen appears destined to leave Serie A this summer, and while PSG have been tipped as the favorites to sign the Nigerian, the Ligue 1 giants have run into a huge roadblock.
The Super Eagles sensation is under contract until 2026, having extended for an additional year back in December. Additionally, a release clause was inserted, believed to be worth $143M, which would guarantee the player an exit and the club a considerable transfer fee.
While the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal have been linked, PSG have been the favorites. With Kylian Mbappe gone, the French champions are keen on strengthening their attack and have identified Osimhen as their ideal target.
However, according to L’Equipe, the Qatari-owned side have cooled talks with Napoli. The reason for this is simple: PSG need to offload Gancalo Ramos or Randal Kolo-Muani to pursue the former Lille talent but neither wish to leave the Parc des Princes.
Kolo Muani was signed from Eintracht Frankfurt roughly a year ago for $102.6M despite Les Parisiens agreeing to pay up to $87M for Ramos only a month prior. One of the two must be sold but due to the length of their contracts, the players have all the leverage.
Only time will tell whether PSG can resolve this issue and return in time before Osimhen’s future is resolved. Other clubs are interested in him, and with Napoli keen on signing Romelu Lukaku, Gli Azzurri wish to swiftly offload the 25-year-old.
