Morocco, Portugal, and Spain submit historic joint bid for 2030 FIFA World Cup

The football associations of Morocco, Portugal, and Spain have formally submitted a joint bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, aiming to make history by being the first tournament held across two continents: Africa and Europe.

During an event at FIFA’s Paris offices on Tuesday, the comprehensive bid book for the ‘YallaVamos’ campaign, which represents a global effort to advance football, was presented to FIFA leadership. This bid includes detailed plans for transport, accommodation, and security for the 2030 World Cup, and was handed over to FIFA President Gianni Infantino by the presidents of the three football federations.

The bid also outlines the proposed host cities and stadiums in the three countries. It is supported by football legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Andres Iniesta, and Nourredine Naybet, as well as ambassadors like Emmanuel Adebayor, Achraf Hakimi, Dolores Silva, Ghizlane Chebbak, Alvaro Morata, Irene Paredes, and Yassine Bounou.

The joint bid by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, along with other bids, will be voted on at the FIFA Congress on December 11, 2024. A successful bid would mark the first World Cup held across two continents.

Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, stated, “We are proud and honored to deliver such a historic bid for our three countries, in accordance with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.”
