Fulham secure club record signing of Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal

Fulham have confirmed the club record signing of Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe for an initial £27 million.

Although the Cottagers have not disclosed the full fee for the 24-year-old, it is understood that the deal could rise to £34 million with add-ons.

Smith Rowe, who joined Arsenal at the age of 10, made his senior debut for the Gunners at 18 and went on to make 80 Premier League appearances, scoring 12 goals.

He has three caps for England, with his last appearance in March 2022.

“I’m finally here, and I’m really happy for myself and my family – it’s a good moment,” said Smith Rowe.

“I’m really excited. I just wanted to get here as quickly as possible so I could start working with my new team-mates.

“Listening to the project, speaking to the manager [Marco Silva], and seeing the players we already have, I think it’s an exciting project for me and the perfect step for my career going forward.”

Fulham have also signed Ryan Sessegnon on a two-year deal after his contract expired at Tottenham. Cottagers vice-chairman Tony Khan expressed his delight with Smith Rowe’s arrival.

“We’re very excited to sign such a talented young player, and we look forward to Emile joining the squad in Portugal as we continue to prepare for the new season,” said Khan.

Fulham are also attempting to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, having made a second bid believed to be worth £20 million for the 27-year-old Scotland international.
