Ancelotti confirms Bellingham’s role unchanged despite Mbappe arrival

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Jude Bellingham’s role will remain unchanged despite Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at the club.

Bellingham, the 21-year-old England midfielder, excelled in an advanced position during his debut season, netting 23 goals in 42 appearances as Real Madrid clinched both La Liga and the Champions League titles.

This summer, 25-year-old French striker Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain.

Ancelotti dismissed speculation that Bellingham would move to a deeper role to accommodate Mbappe, stating: “Nothing changes for him. Nothing changes.

“In his first season, he surprised many by displaying fantastic quality and maturity. The next season will be no different.

“He will continue to be one of our best players, significantly supporting the team with his talent.”

Ancelotti also defended Bellingham amid criticism of his performances at Euro 2024, where England reached the final.

“This is just an opinion, but Bellingham played really well at the Euros,” he said.

“England performed admirably, reaching the final and coming close to winning. I don’t know how the players are tired for the game.”
