Wantaway Marcus Rashford was nowhere to be seen as Manchester United’s squad travelled to London ahead of Thursday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham.
Rashford, 27, made headlines on Tuesday by confirming that he’s ‘ready’ to leave the Red Devils, who he joined aged seven. Amid the striker’s lacklustre form, new United manager Ruben Amorim left Rashford out of his 20-man squad for Sunday’s Manchester derby alongside team-mate Alejandro Garnacho.
After the pair trained at Carrington this week, Amorim has recalled Garnacho to his squad but seemingly not Rashford. The 27-year-old wasn’t pictured as United’s squad gathered at an airport car park and then travelled to Stockport train station on Wednesday afternoon.
Garnacho, meanwhile, was spotted wearing a snood pulled over his mouth and a black beanie hat. The Argentine, 20, is set to be involved as United bid to reach the last four of the Carabao Cup, which they won in 2023.
Amorim told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday morning: “We have one more training But it’s the same situation of all the other players. If they train well then I have to make a choice. We will see see at the end of training. Of course [I expect a reaction]. I expect the best of each player every day so we will see after training…
