‘I don’t care’ – Mason Greenwood fires warning to PSG as resurgence continues after Man United exit

Roberto De Zerbi hailed the resilience of his Marseille side after former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood starred against Rennes to keep the pressure on Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

The 23-year-old, who joined the French outfit in a £26.6m deal from United last summer, bagged a goal and an assist to secure a 2-1 win for his side at the Roazhon Park on Saturday night. Greenwood was on hand in the first half’s final seconds to convert Michael Murillo’s cut-back and restore parity after Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga had fired Rennes ahead two minutes earlier.

And four minutes after the restart, he was involved in the winner for De Zerbi’s side as his cross was headed home by Adrien Rabiot. For Marseille, the win saw them continue their impressive form of late, with four wins from five Ligue 1 games, and move to within four points of leaders PSG.

Speaking after the game, Greenwood insisted he was delighted with the contribution he was able to make and called on his side to keep the pressure on the Parisians. “I’m very happy with these goals and to support my team, but I’m not sad if I don’t score, as long as we win.
