The Premier League have announced they will NOT seek to hit Everton with another points penalty over an outstanding financial issue.
Everton have complied with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules [PSR] for the 2023-24 financial year – the first time they’ve managed it in three years. Unsurprisingly, that was a big boost for the Toffees and their new owners.
But overhanging at the club – who suffered TWO points deductions last season – remained an issue which was highlighted 12 months ago when the Merseysiders were punished for the second time.
The issue surrounded how Everton had accounted for interest in relation to the loans which had, according to the club, been used to build the club’s new stadium, into which they will move next season. The Premier League claimed at the time that the issue needed a swift resolution, and that this issue was too complex to consider in the necessary timeframe as they dished out Everton’s second punishment last term…
