Former Nigerian midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju has reiterated that the Super Eagles won’t allow a repeat of the Sierra Leone 4-4 draw against the Squirrels of Benin in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Adepoju stated this in an interview with a Lagos-based radio station, where he said that the players are ready to deliver the best results for Nigeria.
The three-time AFCON champions are top of Group L on eight points while Benin sit second on seven points with teams desperate for points on March 27.
Adepoju said, “I believe this year will be different from last year, the year 2020 came with a lot of challenges that include COVID19, the Super Eagles has a unit also had their own bad time – It is normal in life,’ The headmaster said.
“I believe this year is going to be different majorly because our players are playing very well in their clubs which is very important, and I am very sure the players would have learned from what happened last year against Sierra Leone when they were held to a draw in Benin,’ He added.
