Some players had been apprehensive about the boat trip, which was considered because of the bad road network between the two West African countries.
Officials said the team will travel by bus to Cotonou before heading back to Porto-Novo later today to have a feel of the pitch at the Charles de Gaulle Stadium, where tomorrow’s AFCON qualifier against the home team will be staged.
Nigeria top Group L with eight points after four rounds of matches, while Benin are second with seven points.
A draw tomorrow will guarantee the Super Eagles passage to the AFCON to be hosted by Cameroon in January.
