Derek Chisora’s eye was almost completely shut by the time the official called a halt to his bout with Tyson Fury on Saturday evening – despite doctors working on it each round

Derek Chisora suffered a gruesome eye injury during his WBC Heavyweight title clash with Tyson Fury on Saturday evening.

The clash was waved off in the tenth as Fury danced around Chisora, landing shots at will. And Victor Loughlin, who was the official for the bout, stepped in to stop Chisora from taking any more punishment at the hands of the Gypsy King.

However, Fury had already dealt significant damage to the eye of Chisora, with doctors being forced to work on it between rounds. And at the end of the ninth, Chisora’s eye had almost completely swollen up, with blood pouring from his mouth.

Fury hailed Chisora’s heart after the bout: “He’s an absolute warrior and it’s been a privilege to fight him three times!”

One fan tweeted: “Should have been stopped about 2 rounds ago. Fair f**** to Chisora for showing the bottle he did but he was basically a walking punch bag with one eye!”
