Arsenal new boy Kai Havertz was once again anonymous as the Gunners lost 2-0 to Manchester United in a pre-season friendly.
PULSE
Havertz signing for Arsenal, split opinion from day one but it would be foolish to doubt Mikel Arteta’s sense of judgment and track record with incomings.
However, in just a few weeks there have been shades of brilliance but more questions than answers.
Havertz slow start to life at Arsenal
After coming off the bench to score a fine goal against the MLS ALL-Stars in midweek, silencing a few critics in the process, he returned to his now familiar pattern.
Havertz played 70 minutes against Manchester United at the Met Life Stadium and did absolutely nothing. Lining up on the left side of a midfield three, with license to move into attacking areas, he basically ghosted through the game.
The 24-year-old was especially tepid in a first half that saw new Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho score two fine goals to take the game away from Arteta’s men.
For Havertz, fans are curious as to what his real position is, and this was another performance to forget for the Germany international.

They said Kai Havertz was played out of position at Chelsea, and Arsenal fans are saying the same. My question is: what is his actual position as a player? pic.twitter.com/WHMDnHTeKj

Arsenal paid £65m for Havertz and didn’t even use him in the friendly against Man Utd.
