Osasuna are facing punishment from La Liga after supporters aimed abusive chants towards Mason Greenwood during Sunday’s game with Getafe.

Greenwood, on loan from Manchester United, made a first appearance for his new club coming off the bench as a second-half substitute of the 3-2 win at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

While a number of home fans cheered the 21-year-old’s introduction in the 77th minute, a section of the away support in the stadium chanted “Greenwood, die”.

He went on to play a part in the winning goal, his shot being blocked away for the corner that Nemanja Maksimovic scored from.

It is understood that La Liga’s official match observer heard the chants with a legal and disciplinary process now set to follow.

Asked by The Athletic to comment on the chants, Osasuna coach Jogoba Arrasate condemned them while also pointing to taunts from home fans towards his side.
