The Federal Government has dismissed reports suggesting the scrapping of the UTME, affirming that JAMB remains the sole authority for tertiary admissions in Nigeria.
JAMB has reopened its portal for the upload of 2025 WAEC results, a mandatory requirement for UTME candidates seeking admission.
The assessment will involve subject-specific tests, oral interviews, and WAEC result verification.
“If you’re entering school right now… I’m so sorry to tell you… what you’re about to study is irrelevant,” he said, blaming outdated curricula for producing ill-prepared graduates.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said the move aims to curb “academic abuse” and ensure only exceptionally gifted candidates below 16 gain admission.
“Leaving UNN wasn’t failure — it was me choosing purpose over pressure.”
