WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that will allow users to automatically post their status to their Facebook stories.
Status is a popular way to share updates with friends and close contacts on WhatsApp.
They disappear in 24 hours and may include photos, videos, GIFs, text, and more.
The instant messaging app, in a statement on Thursday, said the new feature was designed based on feedback gotten from users.
The feature will allow users to share their WhatsApp status on their Facebook stories automatically.
The statement said users are in “control of this feature as it can be disabled anytime or turned off by default.”
It added that “WhatsApp status — like personal chats and calls — is protected by end-to-end encryption which securely protects information.”
In February, the web-based messaging service launched five new status update features to allow users to record and share voice messages.
“Voice status can be used for sending personal updates, especially if you feel more comfortable talking rather than typing,” WhatsApp had said.
