Protests erupted across the United States and Europe on Saturday, with demonstrators targeting Tesla dealerships in response to Elon Musk’s role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Donald Trump. Organized by the “Tesla Takedown” movement, the protests aimed to impact Musk’s wealth, which is largely tied to Tesla stock. Crowds ranging from dozens to hundreds gathered at Tesla locations in states including New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Maryland, Minnesota, and Texas, holding signs like “Honk if you hate Elon” and “Fight the billionaire broligarchy.”
Internationally, smaller demonstrations took place in cities like London, where protesters displayed signs criticizing Musk. The protests remained mostly peaceful, though some instances of vandalism and minor injuries were reported. Despite the backlash, Musk has expressed confidence in Tesla’s future, believing it will continue to dominate the electric vehicle industry.
