Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho vows to expel killer herdsmen from Yorubaland

In a compelling address captured in a viral video on Tuesday, Yoruba nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, declared his unwavering commitment to driving out killer herdsmen from Yorubaland. His impassioned speech came on the heels of his mother’s burial in his hometown of Igboho in Oyo State, where he addressed a fervent crowd of supporters.

Expressing frustration with what he perceives as inadequate government response to the security crisis posed by marauding herdsmen, Igboho called for unity among the Yoruba people to protect their ancestral lands. He emphasized the urgent need for local security initiatives, asserting that relying solely on government intervention is insufficient in the face of escalating tensions.

Pointing to the recent spate of violence, including the brazen killings of monarchs in broad daylight in Ekiti State, Igboho dismissed the effectiveness of federal troops deployed to the region, asserting that they have failed to stem the tide of violence. He urged his fellow Yoruba citizens to take matters into their own hands, rallying them to join forces in securing their communities.

“We don’t have to wait for the government or anyone,” Igboho declared in his address, delivered in Yoruba. “Let’s just work in unison. We cannot farm on our lands because of these herders. And our people are going hungry and angry.”

With the passing of his mother, Igboho revealed a newfound resolve, stating, “It was my mother that was my fear before but now she’s gone, I have nothing to be scared of again. I am now back to take back our land.”

As tensions continue to simmer and the plight of Yoruba farmers remains dire, Igboho’s rallying cry underscores the pressing need for collective action and grassroots initiatives to safeguard Yorubaland from the encroachment of violent herders.
