FRSC addresses driver’s licence delay concerns, announces over 189,000 licences ready for collection

The agency said over 189,256 licences have been produced and are awaiting collection at various State Boards of Internal Revenue across the country.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recently responded to media publications concerning delays in issuing national driver’s licences across Nigeria. In a statement released on Sunday, Corps Public Education and Strategic Communication Officer Olusegun Ogungbemide clarified misconceptions and provided an update on licence availability.

Ogungbemide emphasized that the FRSC has not placed blame on any parties involved in the tripartite arrangement for the driver’s licence process. Instead, the FRSC remains committed to improving the system and focusing on quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.

The FRSC has made significant progress in addressing the intricate processes involved in producing national driver’s licences. Since FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed assumed office in May 2024, revamping the production system has been a top priority. After conducting an on-site assessment to identify and resolve issues hindering production, the FRSC has resumed full-scale operations.

As a result of these efforts, over 189,256 driver’s licences have been produced and are now available for collection at various State Boards of Internal Revenue across the nation. Applicants awaiting their licences are encouraged to visit their respective states to collect them as the FRSC continues its efforts to reduce the backlog.
