LONDON — The United Kingdom Metropolitan Police have arrested and charged a prime suspect in connection with the murder of 67-year-old Nigerian national James Gbadamosi. The victim was assaulted on Balham High Road on August 24 and succumbed to his injuries on September 5.

According to a police statement, officers responded to a report that “a man had been assaulted in Balham High Road at around 15:40 hours on Sunday, 24 August.” Gbadamosi was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly died days later.

The suspect, 37-year-old Andre Wright-Walters of Greenwich, was initially arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm and drug possession in August. He was granted bail but was rearrested on September 6 following Gbadamosi’s death and charged with murder. He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on September 8.

“A 30-year-old woman was also arrested on Wednesday, August 27, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm,” the statement added. She was rearrested for conspiracy to murder but has been released on bail pending further investigation. The case continues as authorities pursue their inquiries.
