Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, announced that she will run for president on Tuesday, becoming the first confirmed candidate to challenge former President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination in 2024.
In a video released on social media, Mrs Haley said: “It’s time for a new generation of leadership to rediscover fiscal responsibility and secure our borders.”
