Joe Biden to visit UK a month after meeting Rishi Sunak in Washington

Joe Biden is to make a “mini-state visit” to Britain next week when he will meet King Charles and Rishi Sunak, the White House announced.

It comes just a month after the Prime Minister travelled to Washington for talks with the US President with Russia and Ukraine likely to feature prominently in their discussions.

It will be their first meeting since Vladimir Putin faced an attempted coup by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner forces.

Mr Biden will head to Lithuania and Finland after meeting Mr Sunak as part of an overseas trip from July 9 to 13.

“President Biden is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom, Lithuania, and Finland from July 9-13.

“President Biden will first travel to London, United Kingdom for engagements with King Charles III and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to further strengthen the close relationship between our nations,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.
