Trump said Biden’s plans would be “unconstitutional.”
Former President Donald Trump has responded to reports that President Joe Biden is planning to introduce Supreme Court reforms, calling the move “unconstitutional” and “illegal”.
The proposed reforms include term limits for justices and an “enforceable ethics code”, and would require congressional approval, which may be challenging with a Republican-controlled House and a small Democratic majority in the Senate.
Trump believes the changes would be an attack on him, following the Supreme Court’s decision to grant immunity to former presidents’ official acts while in office, which could impact his own indictment on charges of allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 election results.
Biden’s proposed reforms may be an attempt to woo progressives back into his camp, who are angry about recent Supreme Court decisions, including the immunity ruling and the overturn of Roe v. Wade in 2022.
