Nigerians in the United States have hailed the victory of the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, in the presidential election on Tuesday.
According to Nigerian nationals in America who spoke to Saturday PUNCH, Trump will revamp the American economy, while his policies will bring about global peace.
As of Thursday, the 73-year-old Republican had amassed 295 electoral votes to defeat the incumbent Democrat Vice President, Kamala Harris, who garnered 226 electoral votes.
A media professional in Houston, Texas, Obi-West Utchaychukwu, said the North American country suffered under President Joe Biden.
Utchaychukwu said, “The high cost of living, immigration at record levels, the unending wars, unpragmatic economic policies, and the shattered hope of reconciling a divided America paved the way for Trump’s victory.
“President Trump’s leadership will come with renewed hope; Nigeria and other African nations are poised for significant growth and transformation. He is not coming to start a war but to end it and enthrone the global peace that has eluded us.”
A Nigerian pastor, Malik Idodo, residing on Rhodes Island, said Trump’s first reign boosted the American economy, which must have impressed Americans to vote for him against Harris.
He said, “Trump is a fighter, and people made their choice through the ballot. He did not just prove to the American people but also to the whole world that he is the right man for the job.”
Speaking on whether Nigerians in the States would benefit from his policies when he assumes office as the 47th president of the US, Idodo stated that Nigerians are assets.
