Trump taps former NFL player Scott Turner for HUD Secretary

VIA THE HILL:

President-elect Donald Trump nominated Scott Turner, a former NFL player and House representative for Texas from 2013 to 2017, as secretary of United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“I am pleased to nominate Scott Turner, from the Great State of Texas, as the Secretary of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD),” Trump said in a press release on Friday.

Turner serves as the chair of the Center for Education Opportunity at America First Policy Institute, a Trump-aligned think tank.

Turner served as the executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council — aimed at helping the country’s “distressed communities across America,” according to its website — during Trump’s first term. He is also the chief executive and founder of Community Engagement & Opportunity Council (CEOC), which is focused on helping communities in America through, sports, mentorship and economic opportunity.
