U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Canadians would have “much better” health coverage if Canada became the 51st state of the United States.
Trump, who made the remarks during a briefing in North Carolina after railing on the U.S.-Canada trade relationship today, also said Canadians will enjoy a big tax cut.
He said: “I would love to see Canada be the 51st state.
“The Canadian citizens, if that happened, would get a very big tax cut – a tremendous tax cut – because they are very highly taxed.
“They would have much better health coverage. I think the people of Canada would like it.”
“We made the same products on the other side of the border.”
The U.S.-Canada trade relationship is directly involved 3.7 million jobs between both neighbouring countries.
DAILY POST reports that since his swearing-in on Monday, Trump has said that Washington could impose steep tariffs on major trading partners like Canada, Mexico and China as soon as February 1.
