VIDEO: Governor Soludo issues ultimatum: Open shops on Monday or face sanctions!

Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has issued a strict warning to business owners who continue to close their shops in compliance with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)’s Monday sit-at-home directive.

In a video shared on the X handle of the Anambra State Government on Monday, October 7, Soludo condemned the ongoing practice, despite the official lifting of the order by both IPOB and the state government.

He warned that businesses shutting down on Mondays risk severe penalties, including license revocation and permanent closure.

He said: “I am on a inspection to be sure that your ships are all opened. Every Monday, every shop must be opened. I came to see how it is going.

“We are bring security to make sure that everyone as adequate security.

“This is unacceptable, every Monday we will be here again and anytime any shop that is not opened will be sealed permanently and will never be opened again for that week.

“Even at a point if you are not opened we will seal you for one month you will not open but if you are ready to open, you open from Monday through to Saturday. You want to trade around here?, all the shops must be opened Monday to Saturday.

“So if you have a shop and you can’t open it on Monday then keep it locked for the rest of the week.

“We are going to enforce this, if it’s a plaza you lock it up on Monday then you will not be able to open it for the week.”
