We know how to sneak into Uromi, take revenge if justice is not served – Slain hunters’ families

‘If the government does not arrest and publicly prosecute those responsible, we will take matters into our own hands. We know how to track down those who commit evil.”

Relatives of 16 Kano hunters lynched in Uromi, Edo State, have threatened violent retaliation if perpetrators go unpunished. “We will track down those who commit evil,” warned community leader Alhaji Musa Dogo. The victims, mistaken for kidnappers, were en route to Sallah celebrations when vigilantes attacked them.

While DSS arrested two suspects, transferred to Abuja, families demand swift trials and compensation. “The killers must be punished,” said Hafsat Ibrahim, a bereaved mother.

Defence HQ warned against reprisals, claiming Edo-Kano leaders resolved tensions. But hunters like Bala Danburan insist: “This is a promise—we’ll avenge if justice fails.” Governors’ condolence visits failed to quell anger as security forces brace for unrest.
