The Louder with Crowder team said Thursday it received an email from an officer with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) detailing evidence recovered after the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley State University.
According to a screenshot of the message, law enforcement located an older imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the Orem campus. The firearm matched the suspect’s reported route of escape following the rooftop shooting that killed Kirk on September 10.
Investigators also recovered one spent cartridge still chambered and three live rounds in the magazine. “All cartridges have engraved wording on them, expressing transgender and anti-fascist ideology,” the email stated. The FBI has taken the weapon for DNA and fingerprint analysis.
Officials said multiple people of interest have been detained or contacted, but the primary suspect has not yet been identified.
