Former PDP Deputy Chairman, Olabode George, has strongly criticized FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for revoking the Certificate of Occupancy of the PDP secretariat in Abuja. The government’s decision was based on the party’s failure to pay a ₦7.6 million ground rent. Wike, also a PDP member, justified the revocation by stating that despite the party’s significant revenue from selling forms, it neglected its financial obligations. George, however, sees this action as a deliberate attack on the party and likened it to a betrayal.
In an interview, George expressed deep disappointment, stating that Wike, whom he considers his political son, has “crossed the red line.” He recalled initially joining Wike’s G5 faction ahead of the 2023 elections but withdrew due to their actions conflicting with PDP principles. George warned that if party leaders fail to respond, they would be seen as weak, declaring, “He has declared an open war.” He also criticized the party’s disciplinary committee, claiming its structure was biased. Looking ahead, he urged party members to regroup and prepare for the upcoming PDP convention.
